It is not exactly his fault that IIFT selected him. And going by this logic, isn't it safe to conclude that all MBA institutes should not give admissions to MNC guys. Because they are anyways placed in MNCs

. Why not select those who are not yet placed in MNCs or are living uncomfortably (as u have equated the MNC job as comfortable living).
Your conclusion "Quotas seldom helps those who need them most" is right, but probably u needed to put them in better words. And I still do not understand why is all the fuss about creamy layer. Any reservation is bad -
creamy layer or no creamy layer.
Besides, creamy layer exclusion will mean that quality of input will further deteriorate
